The mixture was concentrated in vacuo, and the residue purified by column chromatography upon silica gel using an elution gradient of CH2Cl2 -MeOH-0.880 NH3 (97:3:0.3 to 95:5:0.5) to give methyl 4-{[(1,4-dichloro-7-isoquinolinyl)sulphonyl]amino}-1-methyl-4-piperidinecarboxylate (700 mg, 1.62 mmol) as a white solid.
